Yersinia enterocolitica is a gram negative bacterium that causes zoonoses in
humans zoonotic diseases (zoonoses). It can be infected mainly
by ingesting infected meat, milk, tofu or water, rarely
by blood transfusion. Yersiniosis is an acute disease,
characterized by diarrhea and inflammation of the lymph nodes of the
mesenteric lymph nodes. As a gastrointestinal infection, the disease is not
dangerous, while the development of sepsis increases the mortality rate to
up to 50%. IgA antibodies appear up to two weeks after
infection and disappear within a few months, sometimes years. A
positive indicates a recent history of infection.
