Clinical significance:

Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is essential for the proper functioning of the human body. Its sources is a diet rich in vegetables and fruits. Reduced concentrations of this vitamin result in weakness, susceptibility to bleeding, infections and inflammation of teeths, loss of appetite and anemia.

Excessive supplementation, on the other hand, is associated with gastrointestinal disorders and rashes, and can lead to kidney stones in somepeople. The test is especiallylly important in peopleb with parodontosis, gingivitis and poor wound healing.
