The lymphocyte transformation test is used in dentistry to detect hypersensitivity to root canal filling materials (composites, cements and others) and in patients using dentures and having implants placed. Metals that cause a hypersensitivity reaction include beryllium, nickel, cobalt, chromium, tantalum and vanadium.
