creatine. It is found mainly in skeletal muscle fibers,
cardiomyocytes and in the brain.
Cytoplasmic CK exists in the form of 3 isoenzymes, which are
dimers composed of the M (muscle) and B (brain) subunits:
CK-MM, CK-MB, CK-BB. The parameter complements the diagnosis of fresh myocardial infarction
myocardium.
Increased levels of CK-MB are also found in:
- ventricular tachycardia,
- myocarditis,
- heart trauma,
- pulmonary embolism,
- during the use of cardiotoxic drugs,
CK-MB mass indicates the concentration of CK-MB protein expressed in
units of mass (µg/l)
