Human Herpesvirus type 6 IgM antibody
Clinical significance
HHS - human herpes virus. HHV types 6, 7, and 8 are the main types. HHS-6 virus causes asymptomatic infections or so-called three-day fever and sudden erythema in infants and young children. This virus, like other types of HHV, can also cause maternal-fetal, perinatal infections of newbornsów. In immunocompromised individuals, HHV-6 can cause organ infections of the heart, liver, central nervous system and lungs. Detection of IgM antibodies indicates active infection, IgM antibodies appear first in the serum and disappear, IgG antibodies appear póź later.
