Clinical significance

HHS - human herpes virus. HHV types 6, 7, and 8 are the main types. HHS-6 virus causes asymptomatic infections or so-called three-day fever and sudden erythema in infants and young children. This virus, like other types of HHV, can also cause maternal-fetal and perinatal infections in newbornsów. In immunocompromised individuals, HHV-6 can cause organ infections of the heart, liver, central nervous system and lungs. Detection of IgG antibodies is indicative of past or ongoing infection. The dynamics of changes in antibody levels are also of diagnostic value.
