Test description

What does the test involve?

This is a non-invasive DNA analysis of 5 genes related to stress and pain resistance, recovery ability, and risk of muscle and tendon injuries. You collect the sample yourself with a cheek swab (at home) and send it to the laboratory, or you can have blood drawn at one of the selected Medicover Medical Centers. You will receive a clear report with interpretation and recommendations on how to train more safely and effectively, tailored to your genetic profile.

Who is the GENActive Regeneration genetic testing package for?

The package was created for people who want to train effectively, but safely.

  • Athletes and physically active people who want to reduce the risk of injury.
  • People after injuries who want faster and more effective recovery.
  • Anyone who wants to exercise regularly while consciously caring for muscle and joint health.

What will you learn from the test?

We analyze 5 genes whose variants affect your recovery predispositions and injury risk:

  • resistance to pain, stress, and concentration – how your body responds to effort and pressure,
  • susceptibility to tendon and ligament injuries – including risk of Achilles tendon or cruciate ligament damage,
  • resistance to inflammation and muscle recovery – how quickly your body rebuilds tissue after exercise,
  • tissue composition and insulin response – influence on body composition and predisposition to fat storage,
  • risk of muscle injuries and cellular regeneration – how your body handles training loads.

How will this information help you in practice?

The test results will translate into specific recommendations for your training and recovery.

  • Training – which exercises support your performance and which may increase the risk of injury.
  • Prevention – how to safely progress, how many breaks to take, and which stabilization exercises to include.
  • Recovery – how much sleep you need, when to do stretching, rolling, or active recovery.
  • Diet – which foods support muscles and tendons and help reduce inflammation.
  • Supplementation – whether and which supplements are worth considering.

Receiving the results

You will receive the results within 20 business days in the form of a clear online report with specific nutritional and training recommendations. This is not raw data—it’s guidance that will help you train more consciously and safely. Additionally, the package includes a teleconsultation with a sports medicine physician or lifestyle medicine physician, with whom you can further discuss your results.

Genetic testing – important to remember

The test identifies predispositions but does not determine whether you will get injured or how quickly you will recover. The result will help you better understand your body’s capabilities, but lifestyle and training decisions should also consider your lifestyle, sports experience, and current health condition.

GENActive tests are performed using modern molecular biology techniques. Most often we use Sanger sequencing, considered the “gold standard” in identifying single nucleotide changes in DNA. Depending on the gene studied, we also use PCR and real-time PCR techniques, which allow for DNA fragment amplification and detailed analysis, as well as determining the number of copies of the studied gene.

The interpretation of results is based on scientific data available for the Caucasian population, and where unavailable—on data for the global population.
