Onconeuronal antibodies are found in syndromes of
paraneoplastic syndromes (PAHs). These are autoimmune disorders
accompanying neoplastic diseases. Onconeuronal antibodies
Anti-Ri are associated with breast cancer, small cell lung cancer a
also with tumors of the reproductive system. Associated symptoms can be
opsoclonus-myoclonus syndrome, brainstem inflammation or degeneration of the
cerebellum. The presence of onconeuronal antibodies in the blood not infrequently
precedes the symptoms of the cancer itself. The test should be performed in
patients with a history of symptoms of PTSD and a history of cancer
history. In addition, the assay should be performed in patients with
PMS symptoms in whom there is no other cause for the presence of the
disorder.
