N-terminal telopeptide (NTX)

N-terminal cross-linked telopeptide of the alpha chain of type I collagen (NTX) - a peptide fragment from the amino-terminal collagen type I, formed by ostoclastic degradation of collagen. NTX is a marker of bone resorption, and is also used to monitor the treatment of osteoporosis.
