Digoxin

The main purpose of this test is to determine the best dosage of digoxin and prevent side effects.
It is important to monitor the level of digitalis medicines such as digoxin. That is because the difference between a safe treatment level and a harmful level is small.

Side effects include arrhythmia, lightheadedness, headaches, visual disturbances (especially colors), as well as nausea and vomiting. Confusional states and hallucinations may occur in older patients. In case of poisoning, side effects appear in severe form. In severe cases, complete atrioventricular block, ventricular bradycardia or tachycardia, and even delirium and convulsions may occur. Atrial fibrillation can lead to death.
