Adenosine deaminase ADA - an enzyme that determines the conversion of adenosine
to inosine and deoxyadenosine to deoxyinosine. ADA occurs in the form of
form of two isoenzymes ADA1 - in lymphocytes, macrophages
neutrophils, ADA2 - in monocytes and macrophages. ADA deficiency
results in accumulation of deoxyadenosine triphosphate and inhibition of
DNA synthesis. As a consequence, immune deficiencies occur.
