Blood clotting factor VIII

Coagulation factor VIII (anti-hemophilic factor A) is a glycoprotein synthesized mainly in the cellsrs of the liver, but also in the kidneys, cellsrs of the medulladb and lymphoid tissue. Factor VIII is one of the largest and least stable coagulationfactors.

In the bloodstream, it is found in combination with von Willenbrand factor, whichry protects it from premature degradation and carries it to sites of vascular endothelial damage. Deficiencyr of coagulation factor VIII is the result of mutations in the gene encoding the factor and causes hemophilia A.
