The tumor antigen CA 72.4 (CA 72.4) belongs to the group of markers of tumor markers. Tumor markers are referred to as substances whose increase in concentration in the body can be caused by the development of cancer. They are of auxiliary importance in the process of diagnosing the disease, monitoring the effects of treatment, prognosis of cancer recurrence or the presence of metastases.

The tumor antigen CA 72.4 (CA 72.4) is the best marker for use in gastric cancer. There is a clear correlation between the level of the marker and the stage of the disease. Useful marker in follow-up of patients after primary treatment: in 70 - 80% of patients with recurrent disease, an increase in marker levels precedes clinical and radiological signs by 1 - 4 months recurrence.
