The rat epithelial test is an allergy test from the blood. The rat allergy test determines the allergen of the epithelium of the rat.

The test involves the determination of IgE antibodies in the blood and is performed when a rat allergy is suspected. The advantage of of the test is that there is no need to discontinue antihistamines.


The test is performed in case of suspected allergy to rat antihistamines.

Blood allergen testing is also used for qualification for desensitization of rat epithelial sensitization. Recommended is also used for the diagnosis of allergenic agents in children younger than 4 years of age.
